Fantastic Weekend!

I have been busy!  As of Friday night I had 19 items crossed off my list and lots more partially completed.  Then, on Saturday morning my parents and one of my brothers came to my house and helped me work.  My mom did a ton of painting.  Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of her cool painting outfit but here is a picture of my brother and dad setting up the ladder for her on the stairs.

My dad and I put baseboards in the half bathroom.  OK, he did most of the work.  ;)

He put windowsills on all of the windows on the main floor and then my brother nailed them down and caulked the edges.

We also got the towel racks installed in my bathroom.  We did have to dust them off beforehand since they have been sitting there for so long.

Thanks for helping.  Lucky me!!!

I Don't Like Mitering Corners.

Tonight I got all of the borders attatched and then attempted to miter the corners.  It took a lot longer than I thought it would.  I am not sure the perfectionist inside of me was meant to be a quilter.  I have little corners that don't match up and I want to unpick them and fix them.  The Flylady doesn't want me to so I am not going to.  ;)  This is my first quilt after all.  I laid it out on the light green (it looks white in the pic for some reason) back to make sure it fits.

Do you think I should bind it in the dark green?  I was going to just use the yellow border as a binding but now that I see it in the picture I am not sure.  I know that there at least three of you out there reading this so let's hear it.

Spring Fever Part 1

I just got back from a short run in the beautiful spring weather.  It was so amazing.  The sky was blue and the sun was shining and snow was slowly melting all around me.  People were out walking their dogs and running.  I know that Punxsutawney Phil said 6 more weeks of winter but I think he was wrong.  I wish I would have planted all of those tulip bulbs last fall.

On my run I tried to land on the ball of my foot and roll to my heel instead of landing on my heel and then rolling to the ball.  Apparently that is better for your knees and legs.  All I know is that is is hard on your calves.  I stretched a little bit longer than usual and I am hoping I won't regret it tomorrow.

My First Real Quilt

Today I pressed the quilt top that I made my mom a year and a half ago.  Now I know why the book said press as you go.  I sewed all of the strips together for the border so I am ready to sew them on to the quilt.

Don't look too closely at the corners.  ;)  Hopefully I can work on it tomorrow a little bit.  It is turning out to be pretty cool.
