Cutting our Christmas Tree

Yesterday we all bundled up and piled in the car.  Then we drove up into the mountains to cut down our Christmas tree.  Mr. K gave each of the boys some sort of a weapon tree cutting tool.

We followed the path of a tree being drug through the snow up the hillside and back down
until we came to a river.  The tracks led right up to a pipe that spanned the river.  That certainly didn't stop us.
Then the hunting began.

We finally found the perfect trees.  (We cut one down for our friends, too.)  Mr. K went to work on one and K1 got the other.

Heading back with the trees.

When we got to the (icy) pipe, I thought Mr. K was going to try to walk across balancing with the trees.  I stood back ready to take pictures of what was bound to happen.
I guess he thought better of it and decided to scoot across.
K5 told me that it was fun to cross the pipe the second time.  He and K4 thought they were ninjas.
While the boys were waiting for me to cross, they cut out some ice from the river to make an ice sculpture.  (Mr. K used to own an ice carving business.)

We made it back to the car where we had hot chocolate.

After a little bit more playing in the snow, we peeled the wet coats and hats and gloves and snow pants and boots off and headed home.

What an adventure.

Just call me Starr.

That looks like so much fun. What a great tradition. I can't wait to see pictures of it in your house.
