Only one more!

This quilt top has been the most challenging of all of the quilts I have made so far.  I have been measuring and adding and subtracting and dividing and multiplying and ripping out seams and sewing and pressing and I am finally done with it!

K3 loves Pokemon.  I had a hard time finding this fabric.  Thank goodness for Etsy!
Now for my Rabbit's quilt...

Quilt #3 Check!

K2's favorite color is orange, he loves kiwis and his nickname just happens to be Kiwi.  Here is his quilt.

You wouldn't believe how hard it was to find kiwi fabric and I won't tell you how much I paid for it because you don't really want to know.  Let's just hope he loves it.

Only two more quilts to go but only 6 days of school left before the break.  I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.

Thanksgiving / Black Friday

I never posted these great pictures from Thanksgiving weekend.  Mr. K made 3 turkeys!  This first one was covered in bacon.  It was my favorite, how could it not be?

He smoked this one.  It was delicious.

The last one was just plain.  But I am sure it was good, too.
My MIL set the table and it was beautiful.  We forgot to take pictures once everyone sat down to eat.  :)
K2 and Grandma put on a little Christmas concert for us.  It was great!

The next morning I went shopping (at 5:00 a.m. I might add) with my MIL, her best friend and her best friend's MIL.  I took my camera but I was so busy getting good deals that I forgot to take pictures of the craziness.  After we hit all of the stores we wanted, we went out to brunch.  It was then I remembered my camera.
What a great holiday weekend.  I have much to be thankful for.

Christmas is Coming

This year for Christmas I am giving each of the Kboys a quilt top.  I knew I wouldn't have time to finish 5 entire quilts so I adjusted my goal to something accomplishable.  (Is that even a word?)

K4 loves pirates so here is his.

It is a pattern called whirligig from a book called Fresh Quilting by Malka Dubrawsky.  I won it from a blog giveaway and it is so amazing!

K1 is a fisherman and has been since he was a tiny little boy.  That was a long time ago; he is almost 6'1".  I wanted something masculine and more grown up.  It was pretty easy.  I just took 14 fat quarters and sewed them together.

Today I appliqued the trout on.
2 down, 3 to go and 22 days left until Christmas!

Out to Lunch

We don't go out to eat very often but the other day Mr. K and I needed a treat.  We went to an amazing restaurant (ugly on the outside though!) and ordered dessert.  Sorry!  I hate to make you jealous but...

On a less delicious note, the other day K3 stayed home from school because he was "sick."  Then Mr. K called and asked me if I wanted to go on a lunch date with him.  K3 was miraculously healed enough to go with us.  ;)

We were talking about our favorite neighbors who had recommended this pizza joint to us when all of a sudden there they were.  It was awesome.  So awesome that I snuck a picture of them.  I'm like Fiona only I don't pack heat.
I started P90X about 3 weeks ago.  It is a lot weight training with some cardio, yoga and crazy ab work.
Mr. K did it a few years ago and got pretty ripped so I thought since I haven't been running I would try it.  Anyway, I have been craving meat and I think that P90X is to blame.  Mr. K took me to a Brazilian rodizio steak house to try to tame the craving.
It was really yummy.  They just kept bringing meat!  I ate a lot but I finally had to stop.  I might gain some weight with this new workout regiment-all muscle I'm sure ha-ha.

But really we don't go out to eat very often...

Halloween 2011

I am not much of a decorator.  K4 decided that we needed some Halloween decorations so he made some and taped them to the door.

Let me zoom in on a certain part.

That's right, it says "this is not a fun house."  I am not sure what he means by that.  Probably just trying to scare the neighbors, not a desperate call for help.

He dressed up as Thor.
His costume maker didn't have time to make a helmet or hammer for him so he improvised with some duct tape, paper, foam and a stick.

We went to a trunk or treat a couple days before Halloween.  It looks like supergirl is levitating.
Here are all of the costumes:
Link from Legend of Zelda

A crazy ninja.

Snorlax (a Pokemon)

Another crazy ninja.

Grandma the good witch.

I dressed up as a runner since I feel like I'm not one anymore.

Mr. K is a professor with his corduroy jacket and Diet Coke.
After that party, we went home and carved pumpkins.
 They turned out so cool.
Halloween night we had a couple of costume changes.

They got way too much candy.  I am only saying that because I am eating so much of it.  (You know the parent candy tax.)

Challah Bread

My friend has a blog called Happy Food.  She posted the directions for making Challah bread and I decided that I had to try it while I was at my mom's house.  Of course the Kboys wanted to help.

I was a little nervous about the braiding part but we figured it out thanks to a youtube video.

The bread turned out to be so great.  We ate both loaves with plenty of real butter and yummy peach freezer jam.
I think I'm going make it again tomorrow.

Feeding the Horse and Bull

I took some cute pictures the other day when we went with my mom to feed one of the horses and my brothers bull.

K5 was pulling faces for me.  I think this one is a pirate face. I'm not sure about the next one.

 What a nice foster aunt.
It is so beautiful out there.
