Good Bye :(

Today I sold our old Suburban.

Is is weird that I am blogging about it?  It's just that I loved that car and there are so many trips and vacations and shuttling back and forth and memories in it.  We put about 100,000 miles on it.  Last November the transmission starting going out.  I only had first and second gear and reverse.  The Aamco guy gave me the price for rebuilding it...yikes!  We decided to look for something else and through a series of fortunate events came across The Van.

The suburban sat in our driveway all winter.  Mr. K wanted to take it to the junk yard and just be done with it.  I wanted to sell it but I never got around to taking pictures and listing it.

I finally took some pictures when I was photographing my raspberries and last week I listed it.  Less than 60 seconds after I posted it I got a call on it.  I hadn't even added the pictures yet!  While I was on the phone with the first caller, I missed 2 calls.  As soon as I hung up I got another one.  This guy said he wanted to come over right then.  I laughed because it wasn't cleaned out and hadn't been started in 6 months.  While I was waiting for him I had a guy offer me full price without even seeing the car.  I stopped answering my phone after a few more calls.  It had been up no more than 10 minutes.  Apparently the price I randomly made up was great.  There was a small bidding war ending with a guy offering $200 more than the asking price.  He said he would pick it up Saturday at 3:00 but he never showed up and didn't answer my calls.  Today a guy called about it, came and looked at it and bought it.  Cash is king, especially when it's right in front of your face.
I snuck out and took a picture as the new owner was hooking it up to take it away.
Then I went in and cried.

Lucky Girl

We just celebrated the 14th anniversary of the day our family was sealed together in the temple.  Every year Mr. K buys me the same number of roses as the number of years we have been sealed.

We celebrated by eating mexican food at our favorite restaurant.  Then we went shopping for emergency blankets for our upcoming race.  (It was canceled last year on account of crazy weather so we are going to be prepared.)  Somehow I ended up with these:
The shirt and shoes were on clearance and the skirt was $10 off.  I can't believe my luck with the shoes.  Although I always try on tons of brands and styles, I always end up getting the same kind of Asics.  They were the only pair and they were my size.  I called it serendipity.

Pomp and Circumstance

Mr. K graduated with his master's degree on Saturday.  (Finally.)    He completed the work about 6 years ago and never got around to filling out the paperwork and jumping through the hoops until recently.  It was so exciting.  This was the procession.

K5 and K2 had fun playing in the landscaping while we waited.

Walking for the diploma.

I had to leave at 2:30 to pick up K3 from school since he had a field trip.  We had reservations for 3:00 and the ceremony ended up going until about 3:45.  After texting with Mr. K, we decided to have everyone leave early and meet at the restaurant for drinks and appetizers.  Mr. K's brother sat through the rest of it and then met us for a late lunch or early dinner.

Honey Rabbit had fun at the dessert bar.
I love Mr. K.

I think I have to call him master now...

Raspberries and Hopefully Blackberries Planted

Mr. K finished off the stump last week and this was the awesome picture I got.  He worked late into the night to get it done for me.

Yesterday I finally got around to transplanting raspberries.
I dug a trench along the fence and then laid out the plants.  I have to mention that I did not use a tape measure.  Are you proud of me?  I just eyeballed it.  K5 and I watched a youtube video on how to transplant and the guy recommended using some kind of gel in the roots to keep them moist so I got this stuff.

It is fertilizer and water holding gel.  I sprinkled it in with the roots and then soaked them before I covered them with soil.
They look so great!
